Jewelry Engraving

The technique of engraving dates back to the Stone Age, when the first markings were made on bones, ivory, or rocks. Over time, the art of engraving evolved and began to be used for decoration - especially for the metal ornaments made on swords, shields, and armor, but also for jewelry.

Recently, the need for jewelry engraving has increased - a declaration of love, beautiful life mottos, symbols, the initials of loved ones, or the date of a special day are just a few ideas for personalization. Through this process, a unique piece full of emotions is created, and jewelers can choose different methods to engrave their creations.

Hand engraving

This is a traditional method used for many years that requires skill, precision, and also time. Tools such as a chisel, dry point, or even a carbide tip can be used. The latter is an electric engraver that looks like a high-precision pen due to its diamond tip and is most suitable for very complex engravings.

Mechanical engraving

This method uses a manual or digital milling machine and brings precision, security, and a high level of quality. The jewelry is positioned in a vise, and a rotary cutter comes into contact with the piece to perform the personalization. The process can be done manually or automatically if a digital milling machine is used. This process allows for new and very precise printing possibilities for jewelry: text, logos, reproducing handwritten messages, fingerprints, photographs, and much more.

Laser engraving

Whether it’s creating a classic-style gold engraving, engraving rings, adding a special inscription to a watch, decorating a necklace, or customizing a bracelet, a laser offers the ability to work on countless shapes and materials. Functional markings, patterns, textures, personalization, and even photo-engraving can be done with the help of a laser.

This modern alternative is carried out using computer software in which what is to be printed is noted. The software then transmits the information to the laser, which will engrave the jewelry. The technique is fast and ensures precision (even for the smallest fonts) and durability over time. Additionally, the process is done without contact, which significantly reduces risks compared to other methods - the laser allows for engraving jewelry that is too fragile to be engraved mechanically due to the risk of bending the object. There are also some gemstones, such as diamonds, that can only be printed with the help of a laser.

Engraving is a simple process that makes jewelry invaluable. The laser technology we use at Moogu makes it possible to engrave precisely on precious metals such as gold, silver, or any alloy, regardless of shape, with versatile design possibilities, a sentimental gift to keep forever.
